NDSR goes to AMIA

If you’re going to be at AMIA in Pittsburgh this year, we hope you’ll join the AAPB NDSR residents for a discussion session “Planning for Preservation in Public Media: An AAPB NDSR Update,” at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12.

Over the course of the session, the residents will be discussing the following questions:

What metadata does your station currently collect, and how is it organized? How can these practices be improved?

How does your station make its archive accessible to the public?

What are some of the tools or software that you are using as part of your project?

How are digital materials in your station’s archive stored? LTO tape? Hard disk? Optical disk?

What is required of producers at your station in regards to documentation and normalization and how does this feed into archival work?

What are common issues that the cohort faces and discusses with each other?

How does your station engage its local community?

What experience prior to the NDSR best prepared you for the residency?

If you have other questions about the AAPB NDSR residency, or about preservation in public media, please share them with us — we’d love to add them to the list!
