Forty Years, Forty Films, Forty Weeks – Indian Country Diaries: A Seat at the Drum

In this week’s featured Vision Maker Media film, visit the largest Native American community in the nation — the city of Los Angeles.

The Indian Country Diaries series goes inside modern Native American communities to reveal a diverse people working to revitalize their culture while improving the social, physical, and spiritual health of their people. In “A Seat at the Drum,” journalist Mark Anthony Rolo (Bad River Ojibwe) journeys to L.A. to meet American Indians who were relocated from poor reservations to the cities in the last half of the 20th century. Rolo investigates the underlying challenges facing urban Indians in America, and undergoes his own journey to find a “seat at the drum.”
